Now I’m not going to lie, I never really thought Bonmarche was for me and my shopping needs. It’s one of those stores that i deemed for the older lady, or perhaps just not my style. Well when i’m wrong i hold my hands up, and trust me on this, i’m now waving my hands in the air quite happily as a complete Bonmarche convert, as quite frankly, they have some amazing pieces.
Bonmarche first came to my attention with this rather fab little spotted skirt, after that i started to peruse their website more regularly and i spotted the jumpsuit of my absolute dreams (its below by the way!) and couldn’t believe it when it went on sale for a mere £19.00!
So to say i’m converted would be an understatement. In a nutshell the clothes are excellent quality, on point with pricing with good sizing(excellent if you have a few curves too!) and just really stylish to be honest.
I got to pick out a few things recently thanks to the very kind people at Bonmarche. Wanna see what i chose? 🙂
Ok good.. here goes!
The Chartreuse Dress
I started with this twill shirt dress in the most fantastic unusual colour. The camera doesn’t actually show it to it’s truest colour as it just looks like an ochre yellow here, but IRL it is chartreuse which i can only describe as an ochre with a green undertone, sounds disgusting but is actually fabulous and unlike anything else i own (which always means its thumbs up from me, i hate having a wardrobe of all the same things). The twill fabric falls beautifully and skims the curves well. I added my raspberry bag in for a fun contrast, but to play safe you could stay with blacks/neutrals. Navy or tan would also work.
Top Tip: Try adding some smart heels and a thick waist belt to cinch in for a more dressed up look.
The PERFECT Jumpsuit
I love a jumpsuit. I had a very specific look in mind for a summer jumpsuit. I wanted straps not sleeve and cropped wide leg. I honestly felt like i was winning at life when i found this jumpsuit on the Bonmarche website. The fabric is a soft linen blend that is easy to wear and the check pattern is just completely my cup of tea. The teeny sales price of less than £20.00 makes it a complete no brainer. But, if you need further convincing let me help; It’s really easy to get on and off, which if you’re a jumpsuit officiando like myself, you’ll know how important that is. It is long enough in the body to not give you a wedgie, which if we’re honest, is probably the most important factor with a jumpsuit. Sizing wise i went for a 12 as i’m probably an 11 at the moment and always size up in jumpsuits (for the aforementioned wedgie reason) but its actually very generous so i’d say stick to your normal size.
Styling Tip: Layer a white tee underneath and wear with trainers and a backpack for a day out with the family comfy look.
The Dreamy Midi Skirt
After i’d dabbled with the polka dot skirt i was instantly drawn to this leopard print version as i knew it would be perfect for the office, and it is. Smart, cool and a little bit funky it makes for perfect office attire. What i love about this is how the colours will work well with so many different colour tops, and by so many i mean about 4, but that still super good and makes for flexible outfits for the office which is fab.
I drew from the colour and paired with red and purple which turns out is a pretty marvellous colour combo… who knew (not me!). This may well be my new favourite work outfit.
Style Tip: Not just for office wear, you could rock this to the supermarket with some white trainers (think Converse, Supergas or Stan Smiths), a white v neck tshirt and a denim jacket for cool casual vibes.
So those are my three Bonmarche looks and i have to say, i’m chuffed to bits with them, they’re a sheer joy to wear. I already have my eye on a few other dresses that would be perfect for work and play!
Have i convinced you to have a little look at a brand you may not have considered before?
