After a week of snow I found myself desperate to shun the jeans and wear a dress. It’s fair to say this season for me has been all about pretty dresses but worn with the juxtaposing ‘edgy’ boots, and when i say ‘edgy’ i mean anything that’s a little more masculine or with buckles and studs, as it makes a rather nice contrast to the pretty dress.
For me it just makes dresses feel more wearable for my daily life, which if i’m honest doesn’t really require many pretty dresses (housework, blog work and trips to the supermarket don’t require much on that front).
Gone are the days where I would buy clothes for a lifestyle i didn’t even have and then leave them with their tags still on in the wardrobe, just waiting for a certain occasion so they could be worn, but sadly, most of the time, the occasion never arose.
But i’ve always been a pretty dress kind of girl (actually that’s not entirely true, if you ask my mum she will tell you i was a tomboy for most of my youth and would often wish i was a boy, lol!), and I love how trends have now come about so that many items are more wearable. Years ago i don’t think i would have ever have put a midi dress with chunky boots or even trainers, but style is ever evolving isn’t it, and it seems to have evolved for women to wear things that they love but are also practical, just like when ladies first delved in to wearing slacks and trousers from the constant wearing of dresses or skirts, style evolution through the ages continues, and i think that us women have it pretty good on that front these days and I for one will be super happy to watch it continue.
Do you ever dress pretty but make it practical for your lifestyle?
