What Not To Wear When Your Car Breaks Down

So i started Monday with a spring in my step and a nice outfit i’d put together. I was feeling pretty good that morning with the thought of taking some outfit pictures and then heading out to do a little more Christmas shopping.

As soon as my berry booted foot was out the door i kind of regretted my outfit choice, the wind was biting cold and blowing a hooley and it was 1 degree Celsius with frost everywhere.. it was flippin’ freezing.

But never one to let the weather deter me i plodded on, and after putting Neo on his school bus i popped off to do my photos with the intention of hitting the stores next.

When my fingers started to go red and numb i called it quits having taken a few pics and deciding i was done. I popped back in to my car instastoried something or other and then attempted to set off on my way. Problem was my car wouldn’t start. Great. Called the husband, tried a few things but nada.

AA to the rescue. At this point i am so grateful to myself for being a proper adult and taking out AA recovery, its something i’ve gone without since the time i started driving at 18, but last year i took it out on a whim and my god i’m so glad i did. I’m more of a ‘wing it’ kind of an adult. a ‘lets hope for the best, deal with it as it comes’ kind of adult. But for once in my life i am so glad i adulted and took that recovery policy out πŸ™‚

About an hour and half later, frozen to the bone in my little faux leather skirt and tights, i was able to set back off again thanks the wonderful man in the yellow van replacing my ancient battery that had given up the ghost and died in the cold.

But honestly, i don’t think i’ve ever felt so incorrectly dressed for a day, or so very very cold.

So lesson learned, keep a blanket and some safety bits in the boot of the car, always insure you have roadside recovery and never wear a faux leather skirt and tights when its 1 degree outside, even if you think 100 denier tights will be ok, they will not be.

Today’s outfit is decidedly different: Sorel boots, thick jumper and ski jacket: style went out the window, but sometimes its just got to be πŸ˜‰ And if i broke down today (pray for heavens sake that i don’t again please, haha!) I would be a damn site more prepared.

So as they say everyday’s a school day folks and that has been the start of this week. Things can only get better right?
