A Coat That I Had To Have ( & #Passion4Fashion Linkup)

Oh god, where to start today.. Ok, firstly let me just apologise for these images. I nearly scrapped the whole lot, went scouring the hard drive for alternatives for today’s post, came up with nothing, beat my head against my lap top shouting “Why God, WHY?!” and then got a grip and went back to these original photos because needs must.

I’m having real lighting and camera issues of late.. All. The. Time.

It’s become the bane of my life and i end up beating myself up over crappy imagery. But with it getting dark at 3pm, having a camera that doesn’t want to play ball and a reluctant/busy husband or a wonky tripod i’ve just not managed to capture any good shots. To the point where i’ve thought ‘Sod it.. I QUIT!”

But of course, once an outfit photo taker, always an outfit photo taker.. I think i’ll still be doing this when I’m 80 🙂 Maybe there will be a whole crew of us golden oldies still sharing our outfit shots with zimmer frames and walking sticks as our accessories, haha!

Ok so enough rambling from me, on to the outfit. Ok so the outfit is more like “Just look at ma pretty new coat”, but i couldn’t just wear the coat, obvs.. (hello flasher), i kept it simple with all black underneath to really showcase the coat in all its splendour.

The Coat

This was my birthday present from the husband. It was the kind of birthday present where i went and chose it, bought it, took it home and told Salvatore that it was my birthday present from him. I was delighted with it, he was delighted he didn’t have to shop and all was right with the world. Bless him, he’s wonderful in so many ways, but shopping is not his forte, fortunately it is mine 😉

As soon as i saw this coat in M&S i felt like it was me personified in a coat. The colour scheme, the cut, the thickness (uhh.. not that i’m thick or anything) just felt like me. Its a heavy knitted wool texture that feels so luxurious on. And as I mentioned the colour scheme just felt like it would go with so many items i own.

Have i ever mentioned to you ( i probably have as i’ve been blabbering on over here for over six years now) that i have a real OCD thing with my coat going with my outfit, its like the coat is an extension of the outfit. Which means i have a lot of coats. I know a lot of friends of mine just have one winter coat that they throw on over any and every outfit. I admire the simplicity, i really do. My Coat-ocd means my coat has to be a part of the outfit and there for be in keeping/matching.

So this one with its beautifully very me colour scheme seemed like i had to have it to go with all that red and navy and black i already own.

Coat also available in petite

Oh that’s such a lovely coat, I can see why you had to have it! 🙂

I really don’t think I have many winter coats..lots of kimonos though, we need summer layers more than winter ones here in Brisbane, haha! Don’t feel bad about these photos either, they look good to me.

Thank you for the link up!

Hope you are having a good week so far and all your Christmas preparation is going well! I’m so behind with wrapping presents – need to do more this weekend!

That’s a gorgeous coat! I love winter coats, especially when they’re different and original and make a statement. And I’ve been having the same problem when it comes to the pictures. Just this week I tried to take some pictures for instagram and after all that work and after editing them, I came to the realisation that I hated them and had to take more the next day. They were too dark and too blurry and I don’t like to edit my pictures way too much because then it’s very noticible that they were heavily edited.

Me too marta.. a statement coat is such a fun and easy outfit and makes you look like you’ve really made an effort! And im so sorry to hear you’re going through the same image problem with me, i too hate over editing them and making them look unnatural. I’ve been doing this for over 6 years now and forget how hard it is winter to get good images. But we try and that is good. We are often our own worst critics too so remember to not be so hard on yourself too lovely marta xx

LOVE the colors of your coat! i can see how one could develop a passion for coats! you say you have alot of coats, and i have an obsession for moto jackets.. asking Santa for another. Love the black cropped jeans and that you kept the attention of the coat.. altough i love the booties! It is harder for pics as it does get dark too early!
    Enjoy your weekend!

I am with you, Rachel, the coat has to go with outfit or else what’s the point, really?! And what a fabulous coat that is. Of course, you had to have it! That’s how I get my favorite presents, too. Buy them myself…husband doesn’t have to shop or even think about it really. Everyone is happy! And your photos are just fine! I can see all of the splendor of your outfit perfectly. And I will be one of those old ladies still taking outfit photos with you. I said “Sod it” long ago about photos and just do what I can! Keep being fabulous!

That is a fabulous coat…total statement maker! And I hear ya on the photos. That is one of the things that I totally dislike about this time of the year. If I have anything that I have to do after work that means no shots because if I don’t get them done as soon as I leave work it’s just too dark. And don’t get me started on the wind and the numb fingers…lol!

Ooh, what a gorgeous coat! I love the cropped trousers and red boots too! I’m glad I’m not the only one with a coat in every colour/pattern/fabric/length going…I feel less guilty now 😉 Lighting is a massive pain in the arse at this time of year, as well as soggy grass that makes all my nice boots dirty!
