I know we’re all still wearing jumpers and jackets at the moment, but the days really are getting longer and the temperatures are going to start warming up soon! I’m not sure yet what my holiday plans will be but even a Bank Holiday weekend at home is a great reason to put some stylish and fun outfits together.
Holiday looks
can be kind on the purse
Bikini
top – Tu at Sainsbury’s
I want to be able to wear this season’s lovely bright
colours, stripes, pom poms and frills for as long as I possibly can.
I don’t want to spend too much money either – I’ve promised to
be good about buying lots of new stuff and I’m going to stick to
it! I’ve seen some great little tops and holiday dresses that I
really love in the Tuholiday shop in particular. One item I really like is the orange
frill bikini top – I could just pop a blouse over it to wander
around on a holiday stroll.
Summer holiday
gear can last through the seasons
In my 5Spring Styles post I looked at outfits you could wear across
different seasons. You get much more wear for your money that way I
think, which is always a welcome bonus, right? I would say that
holiday outfits can be worked like that too by mixing and matching,
and it’s definitely what I’ll be doing this summer. I could, say,
wear a spaghetti strap top with a linen shirt on top, so I’ll be
fine when the sun’s out and also when it’s not (which could be
the case a lot in the UK, but that’s what makes it interesting!)
Mix and match
is right on trend
Luckily for me the fashion world’s great and good are throwing out all the rule books when it comes to mixing and matching. This is really good news as I can now pull together whatever patterns, textures and colours I feel like to create my holiday outfits.
Pomp
pom hat – Tu at Sainsbury’s
Pompoms are appearing on everything this summer season, from the
hems of cut-off wide leg pants and tops to hats and scarves. You can
mix these with frilly v-necks with bold floral prints as well as
stripey skirts and jumpers – maybe even add some sparkly diamante
flip-flops to be right on trend. There are some great nailart ideas out there too that I’ll be trying out which could
really rock my mix and match look big time. Of course you can always
top it off a funky summer hat if you like, to add that last dollop of
this-is-so-me to your look, which I sometimes like to do!
I’ll be trying
out a few looks with something a little bit bold and eye-catching.
I’ll be adding some of mywell-loved pieces such as belts with funky buckles, long
colourful scarves and maybe add some animal print shoes to create
interest and colour. I’m actually really looking forward to summer
now so I can try them out 😃.
Will you be
working the mix and match look this season? Have you got any top tips
that could help me to make it look really amazing?
