Meet the Newest Member of the Family

Thought it was about time i made some introductions here on the blog!

This little lady is Cassy,

the newest member of the Turone household.

She is a Bichon Frise crossed with a Jack Russell.

She’s teeny tiny, full of fun and the most wonderful addition to the family.

I never really realised how much i wanted a dog until this bundle of joy came to live with us. We had been talking about a puppy for some time for Neo, we wanted him to grow up with a companion of the furry variety as when the step kiddoes leave to go to their mum’s house, there’s a huge space left behind and it leaves him sad. So it was either give Neo another brother or sister (not gunna happen) or a puppy.

We looked around for a few weeks, mulled the idea over and then this little baby came upon us.

When my husband,Salvatore, went to visit the litter of 3 girls, this perfect little pooch took a shine to him. She choose him and therefore she came home with us.

We have already giggled and oohhh’ed and ahhhh’ed so much at this little beauty that i can’t imagine life without her, as i type she is cwtched* up asleep on my lap.

I just can not wait for her last jab so we can take her out for nice walkies with her.

So there we have it!

Our little bundle of joy.

Any doggy training tips? All would be gratefully received!

*Cwtched (pronounced cootched) : Welshword for cuddle /snuggle 🙂

She is gorgeous. How big will she get? We have a five month old lab who we brought home when she was 10 weeks old this summer. They are such a joy. I have written a little bit about puppy training on my blog, but the main thing I would advise is consistency and one command at a time.

I posted some puppy training tips here a while back,

The biggest thing I recommend is setting rules early and don't let up later on! Keep puppy restricted to a small section of the house (like a hall way with baby gates up, we did the kitchen because of our houses layout) so she doesn't feel like she has the run of the house and it all belongs to her. Slowly give her access to other areas of the house one at a time, this also helps with potty training and learning boundaries (which will make her less likely to escape the backyard for example). For potty training the most important thing is to keep her on a schedule, that will help her learn that she can't go pee everywhere and any time but must wait for her scheduled potty break.

Happy puppy rearing! haha, it's the best.

What a cutie! She's so tiny! The only thing I would recommend is to start training as soon as possible and also puppy play group is great for socialising (plus all those puppies in one room is adorable). Congratulations on the new addition! xo

Oh she is just adorable! And a fabulous name too. My eldest daughter is called Kassy (well Kassandra actually) and she's adorable too.

We've had success tying a bell to a rope hung on the exterior door. Each time you take the puppy out to potty you ring the bell, the puppy then learns to ring the bell to let you know when it needs out.
