Updating an Old Dress with a denim vest and statement necklace (&a BIG thankyou!)

I think i’m ever so slightly late to the game on the denim vest front. And by ever so slightly i mean years. I have seen bloggers rocking denim vests for as many summers as i’ve been doing this blogging malarkey (3 incidentally, in-case you were wondering). But as much as i appreciated them on others i never delved in on the vest front, purely because i thought it may have been unnecessary summer layers.
But since buying it there are 2 great things i have found:
1. when its slightly cooler you’re happy for more layers, sleeveless it may be but the thick denim does act as a wind breaker, which is a good.
2. By layering the vest over all my old dresses i’m creating totally new outfits! Now i can get some extra mileage out of the many many dresses i own, all by chucking on a denim vest.
Who knew(not me evidently) vests could be so pleasing!
Plus i just got this one on mega sale for £5 here so i am super pleased.
I have a ton of dresses i can not wait to try remixing, however, even though i have lots of dresses that hasn’t stopped me looking at some major crush worthy ones like this dress(so pretty), their aztec beauties would be perfect with ma new vest…swoon!
So are you a vest owner/wearer?
Do you get much mileage out of yours?

Another fab look, Rachel. The dress and wedges look so good together. I love the necklace too. I don't have a denim vest but I agree that they're great for restyling old dresses and breathing new life into them! Lynne xx

Another gorgeous outfit! I love the touches the jewelry and the pink bag add to the outfit- it makes it extra special. 🙂

I have to say I've never been into vests but I think they look great on other people. When I was little, I was "forced" to wear flannel or nylon vests by my mom and aunts because they thought they looked "classy" but I always felt super lame because none of my classmates ever wore vests. I'm scarred for life now, I suppose, haha.

I love this whole outfit. I think the shape of the dress is super flattering, and I love that hat! Sweet! I have several hats for the winter I will wear Love how you incorporated your necklace line with the bright colored necklace. The vest looks great adds more structure.

Yay, it's Rachel the hat with a hat!!!
I just got back from holiday and I wanted to say congratulations on your new jewellery venture- I saw the post but the mobile data signal was just so rubbish that I couldn't even get to the comment box! Hope you do well with it!
Re vests- I used to have a few (I still have a vintage sheepskin one) but got out of the habit of wearing them so didn't keep them. x

Love your entire look! I'm a sucker for a striped dress and those wedges are great! They would be good for transitioning into Fall as well!

What a steal on that vest. Though my denim vest hasn't been on my blog yet, I have worn it very much lately over my dresses as well. I actually wore a dress with a denim jacket yesterday, if you want to take a peek. I love dresses topped with denim vests or denim jackets. You look great and on trend!

I've been toying with the idea of a denim vest for ages! One of the Mums at the school gate had one on with a maxi a while back & it looked great on her as it does you! Ax
