If I Had a Prom…(with Discount Prom Dresses)

Being a kid form a small town in Wales meant growing up was far removed from what was happening in the rest of the western world. Things took a while to trickle down to us here, but sometimes thats nice. There is a slower pace here and its pretty safe and a nice place to live.
The one thing i wished had made its way to us before i grew up was Proms.
When i left school there was no big ceremonial dance with the perfect dress and being asked on a date. Nope there was just a few bottles of cheap drink passed around in a big field (which admittedly was also fun haha).
I grew up watching a lot of American TV, Saved By the Bell, Boy meets world, Sister Sister if you’re a 90’s teen you know the ones. Each of them had Prom special episodes and i so longed for it to be me, where i could wear the nicest dress and have the perfect date, but alas it never happened.
But I am pleased to say that proms have finally made it to this small town though, kids have been doing them for a few years now (eek i feel old), meaning the buzz of school break and prom is starting and the girls are already starting to think about what they will wear, the tan, the nails and the hair doo, its quite a pricey deal. At least you can buy some gorgeous Discount Prom Dresses like here: http://www.dressv.com/prom-dresses-2014-c103441/  that absolutely amazing!

Here’s a few of my favourites!

Aquamarine… such a beautiful bold colour, perfect for blondes and brunettes, i am crushing on the flower belt detail. So pretty!

Never goes out of fashion monochromatic stripes, I love how this really packs some punch and has a little attitude as isn’t as pretty as the others but great in a whole different way.

The Green Godess. I love this one. Emerald green is such a beautiful colour

Coral…oh coral you so pretty, i want to don this beauty and swish around my house in it all day (even with my marigolds on doing the dishes haha!)

So tell me, did you go to prom? And what did you wear? I would love to know (and see if you have pics!!) Let me live my dreams through you!

Thanks so much for reading and supporting the companies that support me, Rachel The Hat

Oh I love this post Rachel!!! It makes me want to dig up old prom pics!
I actually went 3 times – I wore a bright blue dress, then a hot pink dress (with feather boa), and my senior year a cream/blush full-on ball gown. I totally felt like a princess.

I never even went to my school discos! I always had some music concert on that meant it clashed and of course, that was always given priority! However, as a musician, I have always got to wear long evening gowns for concerts, so I get to wear them that way! I have a large collection of dresses which I like! Also, as I worked at a music college, we went to the students prom as a group of administrators! That was fun! Still, it would have been nice to go to a prom!

AGREE! We never had one either yet both my younger sisters did. I think all us older girls should get a second chance and have a Prom to go to (and it'd be even better cos I'm sure we all look so much better now than we did back in the 90s!) x

Some beautiful dresses here. It always amazes me that even though, as you have pointed out. there are stunning prom dresses to choose from you always see such awful ones. Do the mothers not advise their daughters?

We saw some terrible ones at my youngests prom.

I went to one at the end of school and Sixth form. For my first one I wore a short dress with blue and pink flowers – not very traditional prom. The second one I had a floor length dress in a midnight blue with huge peacock feather print in pink and turquoise. Although they weren't the usual prom dresses, I absolutely loved both of them and hope to have another occasion to wear them soon.
