So I’m kinda done with snow now. I’m ready to reface the living world and go to the shops and grab a coffee. Snow it’s been fun, but feel free to do one now!!
So I’ve had this dress, tags still on, for the past year. Well almost year. I actually got it last January when my sister and I went out for her birthday and hit the shops of Abergavenny (Bizarrely it snowed then too!). It was on the mega sale rack (ie the rack of crap that no one else wants) and i think it was something silly like Β£5. I bought it and was pleased as punch with my little bargain. I then proceeded to leave it in the wardrobe for a whole year! It really proves that me being on a no spend since Christmas has made me shop my own wardobe and pull out some pretty nice dresses! I have to say im doing real well on the no-spend front. It feels quite liberating. I have however done a bit of window shopping online, you know, a bit of browsing,
Annnnd the one thing i keep coming back to time and time again is THESE…
Tell me, do you love or loathe?
Help me out here are they just plain ugly or pretty cool? Hi-top Wedges….hmmm?
I did not like them at all at first but now i can’t stop thinking of all the possibilities of funky edgy (and comfy i might add) outfits i could create with them! They aren’t my normal style but i think that makes me want them even more. What do you think?
The puurrddyy Birdy brooch was sent to me by the lovely Jordan, owner of a fabulous Etsy Shop Hexagon Inc. Hexagon Inc is Canadian based and they make eco-friendly, handmade cute as can be be, brooches. I love this heart brooch… how cute for a valentines outfit!! To get to the UK it arrived in 4 days.. i was mega impressed! And the brooch itself is beautifully made. Me and the lil bird are going to have many an outfit together i’m sure.
Hat: & Tights & Belt i forget…
Boots: Matalan
Dress: Dorothy Perkins
Coat: Marks and Spencers
Scarf: Mum’s
Brooch: Hexagon Inc
All old apart from the lovely Brooch
Ps.. Hi Mum I borrowed your scarf… Thanks!!

In LOVE with this outfit (again)! That little birdie pin is too cute!!! π Thanks for linking up!

I love everything about this outfit, the colours, the texture and the way you have put it all together. The tights are a lovely colour (I wore a similar pair today, we are in sync lol) That dress is gorgeous, cannot believe it was Β£5, have you ever read Forever Ambers blog? She has that dress in a lot of different colours and the green one is her favourite so I have seen it before but styled in a very different way, it is a really versatile little dress.
Have a lovely Sunday π

Thank you Megan!! i dont wear enough of these colours. im so in to red most of the time i forget pinks and teals. I can see me wearing the combo more for sure! So glad you liked it xxx
I love your boots, but they do not look very snow safe! I've been living in wellies this weekend for fear of falling!
High top wedges, I think you should go for it! As long as they are teamed with something funky, they look pretty nifty and I'm certain you would style them out in the best possible way! x
wethingin.blogspot.co.uk
Heehee, d'you know what Kate i commented to hubby whilst tottering back to the house that these boots had 100 times more grip than the pair i had on in fridays post, which to me are my sensible boots, the ones i always turn to. But i nearly fell over in them, twice! These ones have like super ridges on the bottom for grip, surprisingly! However i would also like to submit that i was only across the street, haha! i didnt cross country in them, no way jose. For that, like you, me thinks i would need wellies!xx
these colors are amazing! makes a cold winter feel a bit warmer π
ps i have a giveaway and i'd love for you to enter π
The DayLee Journal
Thanks Marsa, i am all over that giveaway! haha!xx
Oh my word, that jacket is so adorable! The color is perfect, especially paired with that teal dress! So amazing.

The snow looks so pretty! Feel free to send it my way if you want. I love your bold winter colours and that tale about your dress gave me a good giggle. Just signed up to be a regular so I'll see you again soon. Keep in touch.

Aww thanks Jenee! And you are very welcome to the snow! i shall send it your way. I was rather taken by it at first, but 3rd day in now and im over it lol!xxx
Hi, I came across your blog from the link-up at Lily Among Thorns. I just love looking at the colors in this outfit! Both lively and chic.
Thank you Emily! i am a huge lover of colour! lively and chic sounds great to me ;-)xx
Such lovely colours in this outfit, I just love teal. I am ready for the snow to go away too. It pretty much is gone here but the pavements are still slippy.
Thanks Helen! i have a thing for teal too, and am especially loving it against pink at the mo. there's still shed loads of snow up here in the hills π im so done with it already lol!xx
I always enjoy the 'heap of crap' rails- there are always one or two great gems! Ooooh, I'd definitely love to wear that dress AND brooch- so purdy!!! But YOUNG LADY (I can speak as someone older than you), why are you not wearing more sensible shoes in the snow- tut tut tut!!!!x
Haha Kezzie firstly, i don't think you are older than me?!I think we may be around the same, but feel free to reprimand me, i dont mind ;-)i promise i only tottered across the street in these, plus they i was mega surprised to find they were super grippy! they have deep ridge grips on the bottom and compared to my last post with what i classed as my sensible boots they had a lot more sticking power to my astonishment, the ones in my previous post were too flat and i nearly served myself an accident..twice,ha! the heels on these acted like little ice picks digging their way in,heehee. Hope you're staying safe and warm on this freezing evening xx
GORGEOUS!! I saw a hot pink coat on sale at one of my favorite consignment stores today and now I wish I'd gotten it. You look amazing.
Okay Rachel – I want the world to know that THIS IS OUTFIT PERFECTION. I literally gasped when I saw the coat and dress with the tights.
That's it. You are my hero.

P.P.S. I will pay to look like you in that second to last picture. How much do you want??!!! π
Fabulous colors for winter, Rachel – you look adorable! And I vote yes to the suede trainers, I love a shoe with personality. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday xoxoxo
Love the pink coat!
love the dress! πIrene Wibowo
Beautiful photos of your beautiful self!
The colors are great! Colored tights are so great–I got four pairs for Christmas & wear them ALL the time.
Not sure how I feel about the shoes. My personal motto when it comes to different pieces is that there is always a way to pull something off if you really want to!
Flounces and Hubbub
Ok, you are the cutest thing I have ever seen! I LOVE everything about this outfit. Your dress + that birdy + that hat, seriously dying right now! π I need a little whimsy in my life!

YUP I actually love those hightops. Normally I HATE hightops with heels but the ones you've linked to are so cool! I love the colour and it would definitely be fun to pair them with different outfits!
xo inventedromance.blogspot.ca
Your eyes are popping and so pretty in the first picture! I think the color of your dress is incredibly flattering. I love the pinks and purples you paired with it. Such a fun combination of colors. As for the hightop wedges, I think you could definitely put some cute outfits together wearing them. I try not to get super trendy things like that because I'm a broke college student, but I would have no issue trying them out if I found them on sale!
Love this outfit – so sweet!
-Kati
What a beautiful color explosion! I have also owned a pink coat and I would have worn it to death, but I worn it out! Seeing yours reminds me that I have to find a new!
Gorgeous pink bird and gorgeous you in the snow, dear Rachel

Thanks for visiting and complimenting my brooch! I love yours as well. I don't wear them a lot, but now that I've been complimented I'll have to more often.
Yvette
Great dress and you styled in beautifully. I love all of the colors.
You are certainly a bright spot in the snow. Very pretty outfit.
I have this dress too! I just love the colour and the little brooch is really sweet too. I must say, you're braver than me to wear heels in this weather. I'm snow boots all the way!
These colors are so fun and happy! It made me smile π Happy YOLO Monday
that dress is so pretty! your use of color is one of the many reason i follow and love your blog π I'm learning how to shop my closet more this year to while saving for a wedding!

I love how you paired such bright colors together! You look beautiful! I'm so over snow already, too!
I have similar dresses I wear to work, but I never thought of adding a brooch to make it a bit different. Think I'm going to have to steal this idea!
You work colours so well!!
Beautiful blog too – now following.

I love this outfit and your bright pink coat is gorgeous! Love it! π
I love them – could never walk in 'em but they look fab : ) x
Beautiful colours Rachel. You had way more snow that us! The broach is cool as well.
Like you, I'm undecided about the wedge trainers, I keep wondering the same myself!! x
Good god, woman, are you nuts?! 168 pounds for those shoes?! I'm sorry, Rach, I just don't like them. BUT, I will say that now you have me kind of intrigued…I almost want to encourage you to get them so I can see all of the edgy cool plans you have for them. But as your friend, I can't in good conscience convince you to spend that much money on something that looks that…how shall I put this nicely…fugly! haha
On the bright side, though, a snowy background suits you SO well. Your cheeks look flushed and your skin looks radiant…you're like a living Snow White. You even have a bird on your chest! lol
But honestly, Rachel, I gasped when I saw these photos. You are breathtakingly gorgeous and I love love love this whole outfit from head to toe.
hugs & kisses to my friend across the pond <3

You never put a foot wrong with color. Seriously, this outfit is such a treat to see. BIG color can so often look garish and loud … it takes some serious taste and thoughtfulness to put these colors together so artfully. Beautiful.
Thanks for the lesson.
I am loving this whole color thing going on, on you!! and funny I was just in Utah and loved the snow…no snow here in vegas so I rarely get to see! Loving those tights!
