After failing miserably with the pleated black skirt that was in my original capsule I finally threw in the towel and replaced the crappy thing (that made me look like I was pregnant.. it was not a good look) with this new denim slim fit skirt, and man oh man I am so happy I did.
It fits like a dream.
If you've been a reader here a while you may have gathered by now but I'm really not a tight fitting clothing type person, no no, this body had a child and never sprang back to its original shape.
Plus ya know, I love food too much and exercise not enough, so wibbly wobbly bits and loose fitting clothes are where it's at for me.
So to embrace a tight fitting item in the form of a skirt was very new for me.
I think after trying the flowy pleated number that was in my original capsule line up and seeing that it added way to many pounds in all the wrong places (come to think of it are there any good places pounds can be added..i think not) it was time to try a different route, and I'm actually really glad I did. It hugs these child bearing hips, it flatters my waist and is a great length where its not too leggy and the front slit makes it easy to walk.
I really like it. And I like wearing it.
It was definitely worth adding in to my capsule and I will be keeping it for the Summer capsule too I think!
As for the rest of the outfit, I wanted to keep it classic. The white shirt is one of my favourite items, its just so versatile and easy to wear (although I did get make-up all over my collar within 10 minutes of wearing it, I love white, white does not love me however).
I like how unfussy this look is, basics brought to life.
Finished off with the most comfortable loafers ever which brings a preppy edge to the outfit and the pop of red with my trusty little bag. It may not be the Gucci Soho that's everywhere right now (and gorgeous) but I love this little bag, plus it's a fraction of the price and perfect for that pop of red I love so dearly.

After failing dismally with one item have you ever stepped out of your comfort zone and tried a different style?
