Shopping Trip at McArthur Glen

When McArthur Glen recently got in touch and posted the challenge of 2 accessories from their designer outlet store, remixed 5 ways, i obviously jumped in heels first.
Re-mix is my buzz word, as you've probably come to realise. After years of frivolous buying and yet still standing in-front my wardrobe each morning with the daunting feeling of "I have nothing to wear", I decided to change and with that i started to curate a wardrobe filled with re-mixable pieces that each held numerous possible outfits. Waking up and getting dressed no longer feels so daunting and i seem to be collecting classic pieces with a few statement wow items.
With that in mind off i trotted, with a rather lovely gift voucher in hand, to my local McArthur Glen in Bridgend, South Wales. I took my darling step daughter, Mia, along for a full on girly day of trying on clothes, hot chocolates and cake. It was the best, and something we've decided to make a regular thing.
Now McArthur Glen literally spoils you for choice. It has so much there like French Connection, Jaeger, Radley, Ted Baker and so on. All this at reduced rates. Needless to say with this in mind i was like a kid in a sweet shop(which fyi they also have those, and cakes to die for too!)
We literally shopped till we dropped. I have to say my 12 year old step daughter has far more shopping stamina than me (and quite the eye for a designer piece too it seems... this could prove expensive lol!)

As i mentioned the challenge was set to buy two items that could be worn five separate ways.
After a lot of shopping and changing room antics i decided on a gorgeous pair of tan sandals from French Connection and a tan bag from Carvela- Kurt Geiger (and with my change some extra goodies, which shall be revealed tomorrow).
To me tan accessories are just perfection. I will always always revert back to a great tan pair of shoes and bag. They will literally just take an outfit from meh to wow in 5 seconds. I am so super pleased with my purchases that i just know they will be getting endless wear this spring/summer and beyond.
Be sure to swing by tomorrow to see my 5 looks with my 2 accessories!

For now, Here's a few pics from our day..

Big HUGE thank you to the lovely people at McArthur Glen Bridgend for treating us so so nicely when we were there. Everyone was super lovely and made Mia and me feel like celebs for the day;)

How to wear your Barbour jacket

As a country dweller a great coat that can be worn for long doggy walks is essential, but choosing a jacket can be a tricky business, especially if you plan for it to carry across several seasons, when good weather is transient from one season to the next.
It's definitely one item that is worth investing in if you ask me. As long as you know you can re-mix it up for multiple outfits then Barbour jackets are a great garment of choice and will be a welcome addition to your wardrobe whatever your style. I guarantee cost per wear will be worth every penny.

Not only are they great for day to day wear when you're running about doing your daily doggy walks or errand running, the Barbour jackets now are the jacket of choice for many reasons (and by the celebs too)
Take a look;

Festival wear
A Barbour jacket is a perfect piece to add to your festival wardrobe when the summer months roll around. British weather can be a tad (ha!) unpredictable at best, so it's the ideal jacket to throw over your outfit when the evening comes and it gets a bit chilly. Barbours are also reasonably light weight so can fit into your rucksack easily, but as most festival goers know, it can be a messy affair, and the hard wearing fabric is super resilient to spills and consistent wear and tear that comes with spending a weekend dancing and camping in what can be a muddy environment. Team your Barbour jacket with a plain t-shirt, denim shorts, tights and Wellington boots for a contemporary classic look. If the weather isn't great, trade those shorts for a pair of skinny jeans to stay dry and still comfortable enough to dance the night away.
I also love the idea of a super girly dress, wellie boots and a Barbour Jacket... complete festival fun wear!

A city break staple
If you are planning a long weekend away in one of Europe's many beautiful locations, wear your Barbour jacket with an oversized tartan scarf and over the knee suede boots for a chic city look that carries no matter what the weather brings. Couple with an oversized handbag in a dark shade like navy or slate grey and you will be ready to easily go from sightseeing during the day to bar hopping at night. Whether you want to look polished in Paris, or fashion savvy in Amsterdam, make sure it's in your case!
If you are thinking about buying your own Barbour jacket, consider visiting one of the many stores around the UK and online for authentic pieces  which won't break the bank.

Casual life in a Red Stripe Dress

Have you ever scored a dress that you just find so comfy and so lovely that you actually wear it any chance you get? Well i was lucky enough to get this as part of my mothers day gifts. Hubs in his usual fashion thought oh sugar honey iced tea... it's mothers day tomorrow, and off he trotted kids in tow to the local Tesco. F&F has saved his bacon many many times, lol! Plus they can never to wrong there. I believe this dress was picked out by my son, which is a huge improvement on the christmas jumper he chose for me... it looked like a crazy demented chicken, but i never had the heart to return it as he loved his choice for me so much. It also didn't help that it made me look about 2 stone heavier.. it was the most bizarre cut and itchy as hell, but its still there in the bottom of my wardrobe. I may have to wear it around the house just for Neo one day, haha!
But yes back to the dress... we all know i have a #stripeaddiction right? well this dress fuels it even more. Its the perfect casual friday dress where you want to be comfy and  yet the dress imply's that he you've got your shit together. It was a grey but mild day (double figures) so the denim jacket got its first outing of the season... first of many i can only assume.

Do you have a dress that is comfy casual but lovely at the same time?

Monochromatic in Palazzo Trousers and a crop top

A few things i have been loving of late:

  • Monochrome: gimme black and white any day
  • Wide leg trousers.... this is my first dabble with palazzo style, wide leg trousers and i like them! I love the silhouette they create, soft and girly yet can be made edgy and very up to date at the same time.
  • wavy hair.. i just can't get enough of soft waves lately.. the messier the better infact. low maintenance hair is the best.
Have you tried wide leg trousers? Are you a fan? I had been wanting to find a pair that weren't patterned and could be easily dressed up or down. These are from F&F and they are exactly what i wanted. Soft fabric, long length, stretchy and can be dressed up or down. I went for a smarter look with a crop top (!) and some great  Naturalizer heels from Lotus Shoes.
I think they would also look great with some trainers (stan smiths possibly for those who do?) and a simple white tee and a denim jacket. Perfect weekend wear or for packing light if you're off somewhere for the weekend, these trousers will work well from day to night! And we all know i love me some multi-outfit items. Light packing is not something i am good at, but with the assistance of trousers like these i think i could be better!
And yes, i am wearing a crop top. As someone who carries a multitude of stretch marks after having a rather large baby (all 8lb 8oz of him!!)  my tummy area is best left hidden under multiple, multiple layers. BUT, this crop top works with the high waist trousers! Stretch marks tucked away, the crop top trend becomes do-able.If you had told me that 3 years ago i would never have believed you. But sometimes its good to try something new, its just finding a way to make it work for you!

So are you a fan of the wide leg or the crop top? I'm looking forward to trying both in different ways, the crop top with some high waisted jeans and the wide leg trousers with a tighter top possibly!

yellow with black and some 90's coloured jeans

Do you know the first thing that hit me when editing these photos?
How white are my ankles?! Seriously i am in need of some sunshine on these pins, or some fake tan at least. Milk bottles has never been so truer. White ankles aside (and you are welcome that its not a full leg) i am so ready for some warm sunny days. Its been a bit of a tease lately as its been beautiful blue skies and sunshine but still rather chilly, which i rather think is perfect biker jacket weather. I have been living in this biker jacket, literally every day, which is new for me as normally i'm a different coat every day kind of gal. But nope, the biker jacket has been on my back constantly lately.
I wore this outfit early last week, but with my mid-wash girlfriend jeans. I think i actually preferred the outfit with the mid-wash jeans rather than these super washed jeans, but these boyfriend jeans certainly added a kind of early-nineties vibe to the outfit, which is an era i never really go back to style wise. I was a  young kid starting my love of fashion in the 90's and seeing the re-run this time around on my step daughter is really quite amusing (She's really in to the elastic chokers, the cropped tops, the pineapple on top of your head style ponytails.. for me it's just slightly scary), but not something i want to necessarily re-vist myself.

How do you remember the 90's?
Is there anything that stands out to you from that era?

PS so sorry for the lack of Passion 4 Fashion on Friday, it was one of those weeks where nothing went to plan, there was lots of work, lack of sleep, Easter bonnets and tears (mine), which all resulted in me completely loosing my mind and also track of time .
The linkup will be back as usual this Friday.. hopefully along with my sanity ;)

Cath Kidston Gives Back #bloominmarvellousmums

This past Mothering Sunday Cath Kidston did a HUGE two-part giveaway for shoppers and commuters to celebrate their #BloominMarvellousMum's.

Cath Kidston installed a vintage flower cart outside of their store on the Hayes, in Cardiff, and also installed buckets around the city centre with over 8000 bunches of daffodils.

The second part of the giveaway, took place in London – where a field of 4000 pink and white gerberas were installed on London's iconic southbank, in the signature Cath Kidston polka-dot print.

Commuters were both shocked and surprised by the installations – which served as a pleasant reminder for Mothers Day. According to statistics, over 64% of us forget to purchase a card or gift, until the day before...oooppss!

The installations were meant to be in place for 12 hours, but flowers in both London and Cardiff ran out within an hour.

I absolutely love that this lovely company loved by so many (especially mums!) gave a little something back. Perfect spirit for Mothers day.

Are you a Cath Kidston fan? Did you manage to see any of the installations in
 Cardiff or London?
