Layered Gilet over a Biker Jacket

When i bought this gilet i knew i wanted to try layering it with a biker jacket. Something i'd seen on others but wondered if i could pull it off (or put it on as the case would be). I loved it, it made a cold day where a gilet wouldn't be enough, perfectly wearable.I have worn this layered look with jeans previously, but i had been visiting friends and had donned a dress for the occasion This causal teal aztec print dress is mighty comfy (if slightly short on reflection #tallgirlproblems ) but with thick tights, its slightly dipped hem and my favourite Lotus boots, i think i kept the short dress pretty casual.
All finished off with my current Yosa beaus.. the gold & black tassle pendant and matching earrings. Not normally one to match my jewellery, but i just love this double whammy of black and gold. Its such a great easy to wear set that adds the perfect amount of bejewells to any outfit. I think it would look awesome with a black breton top.... note to self, must try that asap.

In other news i have my second hair lightening appointment on Tuesday.. i am verrry excited. even more so as i literally don't know what colour i will be coming out, haha!
I shall keep you posted on the hair lightening journey. I have a picture in my head of where i would possibly like it to be hair wise, but we shall see and so will you next week! If i'm wearing a hat it could all have gone drastically wrong ;)

 Tunic: H&M

Oversized side split knit with faux leather leggings

Whilst it's still winter here in the UK (minus 2 last night people... and my delightful son managed in his curiosity to flick the external switch for the boiler last night, and let me tell you getting up this morning was painfully cold!!) So layers and big warm wooly knitwear was called for, but to be honest i didn't mind too much as i absolutely love this knitted beauty. The side split knit. I bought this just after Christmas pre shopping ban when i did a big H&M haul, ( i believe it went down to something ridiculous in the sale too..oh my, how i miss H&M). Paired with my faux leather leggings and heels to up the smart stakes, but still the oversized knitted jumper feels like a giant cuddle. And giant cuddles are always welcome in my book.
This afternoon i changed the shoes to my trusty Lotus boots and upped the comfort levels even more, gimme a couple more hours and i'll up those comfort levels to pj's and slippers.. but for now, my cuddly jumper will keep me warm.

Side Split oversized knit: H&M (sold out now i believe)
Faux Leather leggings: New look
Bag: River Island
Shoes: Matalan
Sunnies: TK Maxx
Earrings: Yosa

Are you still in knitwear or is spring rearing it's head with you yet?

1 Pair of Boots styled 2 ways (& #passion4fashion linkup)

When you buy a new pair of shoes, what is your thought process?
For me it is always "Will they go with multiple outfits?"
Followed closely by "Are they comfy to wear regularly?"
Granted some shoes don't apply to the second question and are purely there for vanity reasons, but when i invest in shoes, particularly boots, I know they have to answer yes to both of those questions.
So when Cloggs got in touch to find out if i would like to choose from the wide selection i went straight to looking at which pair where going to answer both those questions for me in the affirmative.
It was a LONG evening of deliberating ... shoe shopping is hard when there's just so many good shoes! All my favourites on the style and comfort front, like Joules and Barbour for practical wear, Uggs & Sorrell for ultimate warm toastie feet and Ash and Hudson for cool stylish boots... what's a girl to do ay?
I was spoilt for choice.
So seeing as i already have some tan and some black boots i went for the wild card.. These Hudson Lizard Boots.
And i freakin' love them.

Double zip fronted, with the most amazing lizard print. These are some seriously cool boots.
And even though they may be the wild card i'm thinking that they will still be versatile and plenty re-mixable.
Here's two outfits i've worn this week with them; one casual, one smart(er).

First up was the casual;

Jeans & Stripe top & Camel coat: F&F
Bag: River Island
Khaki shirt: New Look
Hat: Primark
Necklace: Yosa

I opted for one of my favourite casual combo's right now, ripped jeans and layers. Starting with the stripe top, then on with the khaki shirt and finished off with the camel coat. Casual and comfy.. my favourite kind of style. The wonderful thing about these boots is the print is subtle, lizard print, like leopard print can act just like a neutral, making them super easy to wear.

Next up was a smarter option

Dress: & Other Stories
Biker: New look
Necklace: Yosa
Clutch: (old.. i forget)
Boots: same again:Hudson : c/o Cloggs

I knew these boots would look awesome with black skinny jeans, and i know that will be in their not so distant future, but i wanted to see if these boots would work for a smarter outfit, a dress in this case. I actually loved them paired with the dress. With a short black dress like this, i love to reign it in a bit and pair it down slightly with flat boots, making the outfit more accessible and much more wearable than teetering in high heels all day. I added the biker, one of my favourite statement necklace and a simple clutch and i was comfy but smart!

I actually have a HUGE crush on these Ugg boots also, (have a look... not your typical Uggs i promise you!) They look divine.. and again, how wearable and remixable!
I have to say, i am a huge boots girl and come summer i will miss them (although British summers sometimes still require boots).

So there we have it, one pair of boots two ways.. and many many more to come i am sure!!

Do you have a pair of shoes/ boots that work hard for you with your wardrobe?

Daily Make-up routine( #fotd)

I don't know about you but for my day to day makeup, when going to work or not wanting anything super spectacular i have a little daily routine that i go to day after day. It sees me through from 7 am till 7 pm with maybe a touch up at lunch break. And for that i need it to be simple but effective. I thought i'd share my go-to items from my daily routine.

Starting with prep
First thing in the morning, i get up, let puppy out, make a coffee then head back upstairs with my cuppa in hand and start to sorting out ma face.
I start by cleansing with my trusty Garnier micellar water to get rid of any dirt from the night and then i need a good day cream to set my skin up for the day.

I was recently introduced to Pharma Nords Q10 day cream, it comes as a twin pack- night and day and its Paraben free formula has been a god send for my skin.. I don't like a heavy day cream, i find my foundation doesn't sit well if the foundations(the day cream) aren't right. The q 10 cream doesn't sit on my skin, its absorbed and leaves a lovely base for my next step...

Which would be concealer & foundation.
I've mentioned it before but i have red undertones and an uneven skin tone. I first go in with a concealer for any extra red areas or blemishes. Then i go in with my foundation.

My concealer of choice is a rather cheap and cheerful option, but let me tell you ladies it works!
Collection Lasting Perfection concealer at £3.99 this is an excellent product. It really does cover and sticks.
Once i've covered up any redness i then go in with my Max Factor FaceFinity 3 in 1 foundation. As much as i love my Chanel foundation that i spoke about in my last beauty post, the Max Factor is what i call my day-to-day foundation. Its 3 in 1 formula (primer, concealer and foundation) has the best lasting power that i have found in a foundation. I don't use any other primer with this product and by the time i'm leaving work its still in place, slightly faded, but most definitely, irrepressibly, still there! And at £11.99 i'd say its worth its weight in gold. I started using this about 2 months ago and i will be repurchasing for sure. the formula gives excellent coverage and blends in well. The colour i have is beige and it is just right for my skin tone.

So now i have my base in place i then go to eyes..
And most importantly eyebrows! Being severely eyebrow challenged i set to with filling them in. I have tried multiple products, powders, gels you name it. The one product i return to time after time is the Rimmel eyebrow pencil. Black brown is my shade and i fill it in then blend with a small eyebrow brush at the ends to soften. I then just apply a very easy eyeshadow, but one that does not crease at all! For oily skin this is a major accomplishment. Most eyeshadows crease on my eyes, looking crappy within 2-3 hours. This No 7 Stay perfect eyes shadow stick is bloody brilliant. Its still there at night when i take my makeup off. This stuff does not budge and i've actually found i need eye makeup remover to get it off!

I wear it in a neutral shade of Cool Mink which is a lovely day-wear colour.
I then go in with a sweep of eye-liner. Again oily skin means khol eye-liners make me look like a panda bear within hours, so the Bourjous Linear 16 hour liquid liner is the best ever liner. It lasts all day long, and does not smudge or move. I have re purchased this 3 times and not only does it never fail me, it also lasts a really long time (on my eyes and also in the pot.. the little pot goes on for ages, well worth the £6.99 price tag)
Lastly i finish with a couple of coats of Max Factor Masterpiece Transform mascara, ladies this mascara is amazing. I have tried a lot of mascaras in my years and this one really has the wow factor. Its instant gratification. I think you have to try this to believe it.. just a couple of swipes and BAM big lashes.. love it. And when you're time  concious in the morning this is perfect.

So eyes done, i move on to my last couple of items.
A simple blush, this Max Factor Cremy Blush only needs a teeny tiny bit on the apples of your cheeks and it lasts all day long. It's one of those blushers where a little goes a long way, and for a while i did njot get on with it at all. but once i established how much was needed and where to put it, i find it the best lasting blusher i've ever worn.
I finish off with a sweep of illuminant under the eyes with the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch which out of all the Touch Eclat dupes this one has been my favourite. It lightens and highlights and covers the old eye bags, this is a blessing in a stick. A must have for any sleep deprived lady.
And to fix all that in place i finish with a cheap but great translucent powder from Collection. It just works. It holds all of my hard work in place for that little bit longer.

So that would be my face!
I usually do this all in about 15 minutes so it may sounds like a fair few products but its actually a super quick, well versed process that i have perfected over the past 2 years.

And of course i wouldn't feel complete unless i had a sweep of lipstick. Colour can vary, i absolutely love the Bourjois Velvet Lipsticks that are like a matte lipstick in a gloss stick form, but non sticky and very long lasting. The reds in this range are an absolute favourite. And lately i've been trying the Max Factor Lip Finity with their dual sticks, one colour one clear topcoat. This stuff lasts a really long time(12 hours im not sure of, but a good part of the day i'd say) It can be a little drying as the top coat wears off, but by sweeping over the clear top coat again all is restored and the colour remains. A great option for ladies who can't always find time to re-apply.

So there we have it, after years of doing make-up and often getting it wrong, i have found a tried and tested formula that i love and apply daily!
