An Oldie But a Goodie

This heart jumper (sweater) is a few years old now but i still love it as much as the day i bought it. The problem with having a HUMONGOUS(read: ridiculous) amount of  clothes, things often go astray, or i just forget i even had them (read: spoilt brat syndrome)  When i bought this lovely heart knit i had great plans, plans that i would remix the crap out of it and where it at least 3 times a week. In reality it's probably been worn 4 times its whole life...

2013 will be the year of less shopping for clothes for oneself. Seriously, do you ever look in to you wardrobe and think wow...where do i start/ jee i forgot about this, this and this/ oh look this still has its tags!...? I am the first to admit that i am serial shopper, always looking out for the next best/ bargain of an outfit. But really, do i need 12 coats? Do i need close to 100 dresses? No, probably not. I guess it is a slight hazzard of the trade when it comes to "style blogging", looking for the next outfit to post that will be the.best.ever.
But going fourth, this year i will be more thoughtful. I will buy less. I will put my dress pennies into more worth while things (like the whole in my roof that appeared over christmas...rain pouring in every freeking where!)
Do you ever feel like, enough is enough?

Don't get me wrong, i will most definitely still purchase things, heck i know i can't go cold turkey people.. i've tried, it only makes me want to shop more (seriously, its like a diet where you just want to eat more 'cos you know you can't!) But i want to be a better buyer. I want to be more thoughtful with my money and my purchases. My wardrobe physically cant take any more and i'm pretty sure Hubby's clocked that i'm already a third in to his space too.... :-[ eek!
So come on tell me, do you have too much? Or are you of the mindset, the more the better?

Paul and I were out the other day and stopped in my favourite little town. Isn't this little Toy shop cute? It's in the local town of Old Llantrisant (as oppose to the new-er bit down the road) its all cobbled streets and and cute one of a kind shops, my fav kinda place. It's officially bye bye to all the Christmassy things  now like the lights on the trees and the Santas in the toy shops, before we know it it'll be summer ;)

  1. I'm so with you on this post that I could even have written it (including the 100 dresses thing, though not the 'style blogger' thing- I just inflict my bizarre outfits on the world!)- yes, enough is enough! I am probably getting married in August and my fiance has said that lots of my stuff will have to go when we move in together- I am dreading it!x

    1. yay, a fellow hoarder also? i hate to throw anything away as well as loving to shop so that makes for double trouble i find! any time hubby says we need a clear out i literally go in to panic mode that he'll make me throw out a third of my stuff...eek!! And yehhh i put the "style blogger" thing in inverted commas as i still struggle with that phrase, im with you on inflicting my bizarre outfits for the world to see.. do you think that phrase will catch on? heehee! xx

  2. There have been times when I definitely had too, too much - bins under the bed, etc. In the last couple of years, I've purged quite a bit and now have a manageable closet -- but still love to shop, and window-shop. Love this heart sweater; thanks for sharing it and your thoughts with Visible Monday!

  4. The sweater is so cute, it's a shame you haven't worn it more. I have tried to cut back the past few months, too. It's working out really well for me - best of luck to you!

  5. Rachel! I do that too! I buy dresses, and then search eBay and Asos for quirkier ones! And then, usually end up finding things that you have too! Dress twin! I am definitely going to add a cull to my new year's resolutions when I decide on them on January 14th! However, I do love that jumper and full agree with you on the remixing, looks gorgeous with chambray but I would be so tempted to clash it with monochrome stripes too! Heehee!

  6. Since I started working for Goodwill, my closet is bulging and my husband often just stands and stares...not with pleasure. I love this outfit you are wearing the sweater and pants are so much fun together!

  11. Your sweater looks lovable! I've stopped buying new stuff months ago! Instead I started crochet and diy projects and I made a serious recearch on the net about wardrobe edit.many bloggers are in the same mind frame like you do about shopping. I suggest Vivienne files for more inspiration and less shopping. It's a very helpfull blog!Happy new year!

  13. Love this sweater - red is such a lovely colour at this time of year. I had a huge re sort of my wardrobe last year and gave a load to charity so now I am ready to look for some more Spring bits ....oh dear! X

  14. I totally think like you - I had to get rid of lots of clothes when we moved, and I think I now have just the right amount. I now actually know all of my clothes and can see them all in the closet!

  15. First love the sweater it definitely deserves more wear time. Second oh I wish I had your problem. My problem is that I very rarely shop and then end up having very little to wear. One of my goals since last year has been to upgrade my wardrobe. Not go all shopaholic but find classic pieces that will enhance my closet.

  16. Love this jumper, I definitely shop a lot but I do wear everything I have bought, there's nothing with the tags on in my wardrobe!

  17. Oh my goodness yes I am kind of a hoarder, although I do get rid of things I have so much that sometimes things get lost. When cleaning out the bottom of my closet I found a top that I had completely forgotten about. It is fun to treasure hunt though and find new things.
Love your outfit, especially the heart sweater. I bought some scarves from Next and love them. Unfortunately their clothing does not come in plus size so I cannot order that (oh maybe it is fortunate that they don't have it based on the above discussion. Ha!)

  23. I'm in a weird place at the moment because obviously a great deal of my clothes cannot be worn. I'm living out of a far smaller selection of maternity clothes (although, being like you, even my maternity selection is far greater than most women's, I have 9 pairs of maternity jeans!). The trouble with me is that as much as I like to find a combination of clothes I love to wear and wear again, I also love to have NEW STUFF!! My wardrobes are busting.. but I'm not sure what I want to sell/give away!

On another note, love the outfit - beautiful colours! xx

  25. I found your blog via watch what im wearing. Your heart knit really caught my eye! Ive been wanting one like it. Bummed to read you bought a while ago. :( Haha Ahh well! I loved this post. Great challenge too. I usually try to spend less and use what I have. Only now Ive got the itch to buy more clothes because I recently lost 70 pounds and have a limited amount of clothes that fit me now! :) Im still trying to loss another 30 pounds, so Im TRYING real hard not to buy any more clothes until then....

Anywho... Im a new follower. I like your style!
