EBEW: Monochromatic: Hues of Blues

Well, Everybody Everywhere this month was chosen as Monochromatic. Now i kinda knew what this was (Monochromatic colors are all the colors (tints, tones, and shades) of a single hue.) and i've seen it been done well on others, but me? Never. I like colours, in fact the more the merrier. My speciality is throwing on as many colours as physically possible, to the point where Hubby has laughed. I have been told i look like a school teacher, a firework and just down right confusing. But lots of colours, well that's just me! So when i found out that i had to pick one colour and stick with it, well, a small part of me died, ok slight exaggeration but i threw a slight strop and thought, bleugh!!! So i went to my wardrobe and found ....nothing. I just own so so so many patterns and prints in so many different colours, but...i do like a challenge. So, this is all i got...

Flared jeans: Very
Chambray shirt: Next
Shoes: Lotta from stockholm
Bag: Matalan
Nails: Barry M

I've wanted to try denim on denim for a while. I'd pinned This and just loved it. I never ever would have thought to have worn denim on denim before (without looking like farmer joe or a general hillbilly) But i like it. If it wasn't EBEW i would have thrown some tan in there too, a nice fringed bag maybe and some red nails. But blue is what i give you, hues of blues!
What d'ya think is this monochromatic acceptable?
Have you ever done a monochromatic look or participating in EBEW this month? I would love to see,   i think i need some inspiration and some lessons on it!

Ps d'you like how i sneaked a bit of contrasting colour in with the backdrop..heehee..i could't resist, im addicted to colour i tell ya!

Real Girl Style Link Up Ps this is what i had to contend with whilst taking photos today....

  1. i love this outfit...you pull off denim on denim beautifully! and i love your shoes, and your little guy, of course! time does fly!

  2. Looks good! Neo is one seriously cute dude! Can't wait to see you all at the party :)

    Stel xx

  3. I love the outfit! You figured out how to work it for sure. My little girl will be 2 on the 26th of the month so I know what you're going through!

  4. Oh you look lovely! Your attention to detail is pristine; I mean, you even remembered to paint your nails blue! And yes, I noticed right away that you just had to throw some color in there with the background (which makes me smile every time I see it).
For a girl who likes to wear the whole crayon box at once, you sure hit this monochromatic thing out of the park.
(And, btw, Neo = cutest. thing. ever.)

  5. You definitely went all out! Love the blue everything! I'm a big fan of the denim on denim and I think you did it well. Thanks for linking up for Real Girl Style!

  6. Rachel I'm with you on the colour thing - I had the same despair when I found out ebew was monochromatic...! But you really have pulled it off fabulously, it is still fantastically colourful and double denim really suits you, I think it always looks a bit retro 70s cool which is also very 'you'.

Btw Neo is a darling... those curls!!!!!!!

  7. I love your outfit, those jeans have a very 70s feel! Also, Neo is such a cutie, his curly hair is adorable!

  10. ooh I love what you did with that backdrop I'll have to try this sometime! I love the 60's-70's vibe to your whole site and outfits. You pulled off the monochromatic look quite well. Oh and I am dying over your cute shoes!

clothing giveaway over at The House of Shoes! :)

  11. I do love how you snuck that backdrop in there! It was sort of necessary as I don't do the monochromatic look much at all, if ever, myself. I love color! I wear so much of it that I've been called "confusing" as well haha. But you pulled off the blues just nicely. I'm not getting the hillbilly vibe but rather the 70's vibe and I love that and I love how you pull it off perfectly!

  12. You look great!! I love your monochromatic look! And your little one is adorable.

  13. You did denim on denim perfectly! I want to try a monchromatic look now!

  14. I think the trick to denim on denim is doing the bottom dark like you did. It looks really cute. I'm just in love with your bangs...I don't have the face for them so I'm always jealous of those who do!

  15. Love this outfit Rachel... and look, another child photo bombing!!

Seriously covert your cloggs as well, I need to get me some of those! x

  16. you look so pretty! I must try the denim and denim look soon :)

  17. I've been wanting to try denim on denim for awhile now too, but for some reason just haven't done it yet! Love it on you though, so I'm sure I'll give it a try soon. :)

  18. I'm obsessed with colors too, so I can see how this would be a total challenge! I actually love your version though! The chambray top looks so good on you!

  19. This look is adorable! I love the many shades of blue. I'm definitely more of a color person too, but this looks great! :)

  21. This is such a pretty outfit and monochromatic looks good on you!
I love those jeans, 70s chic

  22. I love that every single detail is a shade of blue including your nails! I love it! That bag also looks so, so amazing!

  23. Aww Neo's adorable! Such cute hair! I'm just like you and normally wear a whole range of colours in one outfit, so I'd find this pretty hard too! You've definitely pulled it off well though, I love your nails and shoes! XxxX http://thesecondhandrose.blogspot.co.uk
