Love or Loathe....

....Leggings?
Do you like or dislike them. I find, in the UK if you want to wear dresses with our crappidy-crap weather, leggings help. It enables me to still wear dresses even when its chucking down with rain and autumnal temperatures.  It also means i can wear cutie dresses whilst keeping my dignity in tact, as i am one hellova clumsy gal. Take last Wednesday, i was rushing through Marks & Spencers to get my lunch and slipped head over heals, straight slap bang on to my arse. It just so happened to be extra busy with sales shoppers too and 3 little old ladies helped pick me up off the floor. Oh the shame! Bless them, they kept asking if i was alright as if i were one of their fellow OAP buddies, but in truth it was more my dignity that had been dented, rather than my backside (my bum has LOTS of cushioning;)

Bow Trench and "hold you in" leggings : Next
Dress: Sale River Island
Wedge Shoe& bag: New Look
Belt: Peacocks

Forecast for the following few days: DRY!!!! WOHHOOOO! please pray to the weatherman that this is true! I'm feeling like i need to invest in flippers at the rate we're having rain :(
Also update on the sewing: i have been practicing and i have got the bug. all i can think of right now is what to sew next. I've made one rather dashing apron and one pretty make up case, which was supposed to be an ipad case but my measurements were wrong, so now its a beautiful make up holder, which works out better anyways!!! ;) Are you a sewer/ crafter? Any tips or projects you suggest for a complete novice?

  4. You look gorgeous and SO skinny, the shoes look really lovely with the leggings, like a ballerina :) I'm mega impressed you've managed to sew an apron and a make up case already, I'm rubbish with a sewing machine but thankfully my mum is pretty handy! I'd love to be able to make some sort of bag organiser in pretty material, maybe one day :) xx

  5. Love this dress with the leggings! I used to be opposed to them until I tried them once - love them now!
Still don't agree with them being worn as pants - but they are fab under dresses and skirts! :)

  9. I never wore leggings before I moved to the UK but they are a must on our crappy weather. I've totally fallen and been helped up by an OAP before--I think it makes you feel worse when it is an elderly person helping you up somehow!

  15. Rachel I don't know why I hadn't thought to wear my summer dresses with leggings... as you say this is the perfect way to still wear them in this awful weather! (Though I had heard it's gonna be as warm as 28 degrees next week!!!)

LOVE this dress with the trench and leggings... they're just the right length for the shoes, makes you look like you're on your way to ballet practice - gorgeous!!

  17. Oh no, I hate falling over in public, I think in a way it's even worse when everyone rushes over to help you! I almost always wear tights or leggings with my dresses, Scotland is almost always too cold or rainy not to. :( The only time I dislike leggings is when people wear them as trousers, it's not usually the best look!

I am just getting back into leggings again. I went off them but they are working back into my wardrobe - they're just so practical!

As long as they are NEVER worn as trousers. Wrong.

I love that your ipad case turned into a makeup case XD I hope you post a picture, I am sure it's lovely!

  27. I usually despise leggings, but I really love them here! This is definitely the right way to style them. Girls who wear them as pants should take some tips from you ;) And I just adore this dress and coat!

  36. I was going to say that I personally don't wear leggings but I do wear any color of opaque tights and socks. The fact that I shun leggings makes no sense whatsoever! But then I saw your outfit! Perfection! I think I've only seen the cropped ones worn with dresses in the US. I think you just changed my mind.... Adorable outfit. Love the bow detail on your coat. OUtfit is all around a winner :)

  37. I have a bit of a love hate relationship with leggings! You manage to make them look great but I often don't like how they look on me. However I love cute dresses and it really is the only way to wear them in summer in the uk! I can't bear to wear tights in summer so really it's my only option! Also I have so many dresses with full skirts which just aren't a good idea when there's even a touch of wind in the air! At least leggings protect my modesty! They have to be ankle length though. I hate cropped ones! X

  38. I love leggings and I never thought I would say that as I remember them the 1st time around in the 80's lol. I love them now though I wear mine with short dresses but I never wear them with tops as trousers lol.

I adore your coat I love it so much I want it..its stunning and that drss is divine. You look lovely x

  39. I love this whole look! I like leggings, especially when they are longer like the ones you're wearing. They also help out since so many dresses are made uber short... I was so excited to see you in BUST magazine! It's one of my favorite reads and so cool to see some favorite bloggers. You looked really cute in there :) Sorry about your spill- I do that a lot too, I guess some of us are just born clumsy!
