When the Weather Changes...

Happy Friday Folks,
And welcome to a loooong weekend Brits. Thanks to old Queenie we have until next Wednesday off, How wonderful!
Folks, i have been sick! Sicky sick sick. Yesterday i spent the day in bed feeling very sorry for myself. And today, after resting all day i feel like a new woman! Full of energy, happy and desperate to tackle everything head on. Which is so Bizzare! I'm just so glad to not be sick any more, it was horrible-yuck-gross!
And d'you know something, i didn't really see or go near Neo all day (he had nursery that hubs dropped him to and picked him up so i didn't have to risk leaving my bed and sick bowl..yuck!)  but i felt like i missed him sooo much, silly i know!

So as predicted (its pretty easy to predict in the UK) the weather has gone back to it's normal crappy grey/rainy self. My poor wardrobe is so confused! All these nice summer clothes to wear and yet it's going to be less than 13 degrees some days this weekend. And just when i'd banished my tights to storage!

*ahem* please excuse the underwear mishap... purple bra obviously wasn't meant to  be part of this outfit!

Lace Top, Maxi Skirt and tan pumps: Next
Bag: Matalan
Necklace: (my fav) Vintage

When in doubt i turn to a maxi skirt. Easy Peasy, i can put leggings or tights under there or go bare legged if warm enough... sorted! And this top, is just too pretty, i wnat to wear it lots! Any remix ideas for it ladies?
It's weird, i don't really wear naturals like this very often, you know me ladies, i'm normally all about the colour, the more the better. But this....this i like!  Something a little bit different, it's good to mix it up, right?

Right then chic-a-dees, i have SOOOO much to do so enough chit chat from me.
Have yourselves a wonderful weekend whatever you're doing, celebrating old Queenie or chilling out.. enjoy!

Ps are we Instagram friends yet?I'm @RachelTheHat(there's a link up there on the  left hand side). I am in love with it, and had my first lot of photos printed and in the post this morning, yay! now for some crafting this weekend, any display ideas for me?

Yay for extra-long weekends! I'm just recovering from being ill too, isn't it horrible? Fingers crossed it doesn't rain for the next 4 days x

    1. I have to say the quality is great on the top. Its washed well also(just needed reshaping when damp) but its truly lovely and a nice fit too. I'd definitely recommend. Xx

  4. The weather in England may be bad, but the heat in the south of Spain is not something I am looking forwad to.
I am so glad to have found you, Rachel.
Not everybody can wear a long skirt with such a charm.

  6. We've had the same thing up here, yesterday it was absolutely pouring down, but today we got a couple of hours of sun again. Usually I try and plan my outfits the day before but at the moment it is just impossible.
You look absolutely beautiful btw, I love that shade of brown on you xo

  8. I'm sorry to hear you were sick but happy to know you're feeling better! Just in time for your veeeery long weekend.
Rachel, I love this look on you. The lace takes vintage to a whole new level. You remind me of a pretty girl in the 20s...these colors really flatter you nicely.
I recently bought a (few more) lace tops, so I'm brimming with ideas for them! How about paired with a bright skinny jean? It will look especially nice when the scalloped edge is contrasted by the color of the pants. Another favorite way to wear a lace top is under a sleeveless or strapless dress or over one. Or how about with a bold, bright tank underneath paired with denim shorts & wedges? Or with printed shorts? Or peeking from under a button up. Oh, I'm just full of ideas. (Can you tell I love lace?)

Have a happy weekend, sweetie! Hopefully the sun makes an appearance or two.

  10. Oh I love that top. The skirt is perfect, a way to keep your outfit feminine in this weather without having to resort straight to trousers.

  11. (Thanks for reminding me that I want to print some of my IG photos, too!)
I wear a lot of color too but it's so nice to wear only a couple of neutrals as well. It is a change for girls like us. :) And this outfit is total perfection! I love your hair!!
Also, I'm glad you're feeling better. My sister has been sick for about three or so days now and she called me crying because she hasn't held or kissed her baby (my adorable nephew) for fear of getting him sick. So she asked me to pray for her and of course I did, but still today she said she's feeling a bit nauseas. I hope whatever she has passes, too. I'm sure it is hard to not get to play with a cute baby when they're in the same house :)
Enjoy all the fun happening in England!

  12. Rachel I'm so sorry you've been unwell!! Hope you're better now, ready for a lovely rainy bank holiday weekend (aren't we so lucky with the British weather?!) ;) Seriously - hope you have a wonderful few days.

And I must say you look as fabulous in muted colours as you do in brights, and yay to maxi skirts for the reasons you mentioned! Such a pretty top too!
