Batten Down The Hatches

Happy Friday Folks. What a quick week!
Well the weather has gone from bad to worse, and when i say worse i mean horrendous! Gale force winds and torrential rain. Neo and me were stuck in all day in fear of being blown away. we did venture out into the garden to try out his new Wellie Boots but he got fed up of being whipped in the face by the wind, so we came in and he pretty much ate me out of house and home .
Taking photos this week has been a nightmare, rain sure is a bloggers worst enemy. It's honestly felt like autumn all week, not the nice golden leave, crisp air type autumn either, the rainy, grey depressing version.... This makes me so confuuused when getting dressed!
So i reached for a little inspiration from a girl close to my heart.
Oh Zoe, how i love your style, your perfect hair and skin. This outfit for some reason jumped out at me, i'm thinking maybe it was 'cos i had similar items ready to wear. So this my friends is my take on it.

Boots & Bag: Next
Necklace: New Look
Excuse the not so great quality of the pics, they were taken with hub's phone in the rain (dedication folks!) and the two with the details are from instagram a few weeks ago.
I've worn this outfit a couple of times and never manage to get good photos of it, one time it was way to sunny and this time it was too rainy.. never happy!

When i first wore this, i emailed my lovely blogging buddy Kym and said that i felt weird all day. Like i stood out like a sore thumb, which is so bizarre for the girl that wears more colours in one outfit than a freeking rainbow! White just feels so strange to me... i know, i'm a wierdo.  Second wearing in of this outfit felt better. So it's a definite grower. However i always feel so delicate in white i never wear this when i'm with Neo as i would be in constant fear all day (that boy is a mucky pup!) and i also hold any food approx 30cms away from me at all times, which made for some funny old looks at the restaurant let me tell you, it was either that or tucking the tablecloth into my dress, classy like and all!
But apart from that i do really like it! Are there any colours you don't feel comfy in? Do you avoid them or just go for it?

Well then Lovelies, welcome to the weekend. Hope you all have nice plans. Tomorrow is supposedly dry all day *fingers, legs and toes crossed* , the step kiddos are in Tenby, West Wales with their mum, so we are lower on numbers this weekend., but hoping to do a little home improvement and make the most of the weekend!

Wishing you a good 'un!

Ps have you entered my Blogiversary giveaway? Open till next Friday :)

pss: For my international friends, he name isn't actually Holly Willoboobie, its Willoughby. I think my son(of 22 months ) has his first crush, when she was on tv he sat and stared then blew kisses! Bless him... good taste at least!

  1. This weather is definitely my worst enemy haha, I hate not being able to take my photo's. I generally avoid red just cause it's so bright and I feel like I stand out too much so I understand what you mean, I love your white dress though! It looks so pretty xo

  3. I love Zoe - New Girl will be back on out screens shortly, yay!! Love your take on the outfit! I would feel odd in white too - its so easy to mess up!! how cute is little Neo?! His crush on Holly reminds me of my nephew - he was watching the voice & his uncle said something g about Holly 'WillyBoobies' and Caleb turned round and said "what?! Does she have girl parts AND boy parts?!" lol xxo

  6. Oh, I LOVE this! I know how you feel-- if I'm not wearing any colors, it feels MUCH sillier than if I'm wearing basically every color in the rainbow. But you don't look silly at all-- this whole outfit is so so lovely!

  11. Looking great hun. I'm not sure what colours I avoid to be honest.

This weather plays havoc with wardrobe choices. I'm having to delve back into my winter closet.

  16. I don't really wear white either - I love white t-shrits with nice designs on them but white dresses always seem too bridal to me? Plus there is the dirt factor too! You look adorable in this, oh so very Zooey!

  19. Rachel the dress looks a wonder on you... Zooey's such a cutie, she's great for inspiration, your boots were a perfect choice for the dress!

And I think Holly W should just change her name to Willoughboobie... nobody calls her Holly Willoughby anymore, do they??!!! Plus my husband does the same to the TV as Neo ;))) Hope you've had a great weekend despite the weather, and that you weren't anywhere near the floods, hon!

  20. This, Rachel? This is what you didn't want to post?! Are you crazy? You must be crazy. Because you look BEAUTIFUL!! I pretty much love every single thing you're wearing. The dress, the belt, the boots (oh my god, the boots!!), the accessories, the tights. You look perfect. I'm so glad you posted this. It's just superb. I may have to do a copy cat of your copy cat sometime in the near future...you are certainly going up on my pinspiration board :)

  21. I love your recreation of Zooey's outfit! I do love her, too. Ever since I saw her in Almost Famous so long ago. Today, she's a blogger's idol.
I love wearing white, but I too go nutso trying to keep myself clean in it! LOL Yellow is a color I didn't really ever wear because I feared I looked terrible in it because of my pasty skin, but I've come to wear it anyway and truly love it!
